Academic Foundation
Thank you for your commitment to education and to Captain Shreve High School.  By now you are aware of the formation of the Captain Shreve High School Academic Foundation, an independent non-profit organization established to raise funds to enhance the educational experience of all Captain Shreve High School students. Public education dollars are tight.  Schools are not provided operating budgets; they must generate most of their funding themselves.  The annual General Fund allotment for materials and supplies from the parish for 9-12 grade students is $15.50 a pupil. Indeed our students deserve the opportunities that these foundation dollars will offer.  If you have not already joined, we hope you will become a part of this exciting initiative designed to enhance the educational offerings at Captain Shreve.

 

Past Accomplishments:

Last year the Foundation raised over $11,000!  Through donor suggestions, research and vote, the Foundation purchased 8 new computers for the library/lab and graphing  calculator sets for the math department.  Using Foundation funds to pay instructors and offset material costs, a PSAT/SAT and ACT Test Prep course was designed and taught over an eleven week period by two of our own faculty, Ms. Nelda Allen and Mrs. Ella Jones.

We ask you to consider the following:

  • Captain Shreve High School Academic Foundation is classified as a tax-exempt corporation as described in section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.  All contributions are tax deductible.
  • Your donation of at least $150.00 will allow you to become a 2004-2005 member in this organization.
  • Contributions received prior to November 1, 2004, will be credited to the current school year.
  • Donors will be invited to a planning meeting where ideas regarding how to spend the funds will be credited to the current school year.
  • At the planning meeting, members will determine the top 5 choices to be researched.
  • A ballot listing the top 3 - 5 parent choices and explanation of research will be mailed to each member to determine how funds will be spent.
  • Each member of the Foundation will have one vote in how the funds will be spent.

Please consider becoming a member of the Foundation at an appropriate level which will have a lasting impact on all of the students at Captain Shreve.

Platinum - $500.00   Gold - $ 250.00  Silver - $150.00
