Scarf Gets One
Over!!!
Not only can she
sing but she can really swat that ball as well. Sarah Scarafiotti hit her first
ever homerun Thursday in a scrimmage against Parkway High School. Her solo shot
cleared the center field fence
in the top of the 8th inning giving the Lady Gators' a 9-1 lead over the
Parkway Panthers. Alexis Lofton, a pretty good travel ball pitcher, was the
victim. The bats were working as the girls collected 10 hits in a 10-4 victory.
Other highlights were a triple in the fourth by Teighlor Lambert and a cool
double play from Callie to Teighlor to Caroline Reeks for a short to first to
third play in the third inning. Nice job!
Our defense was better this outing with only two errors
committed, however, several passed balls and wild pitches spiced things up. The
pitching was fairly good, even though the ball got hit pretty well at times,
until the 8th. Jenny King started with 3 good innings giving up 1
run, 1 hit, 1 walk and 4 strike outs. Heather Stapleton pitched the next 5
innings giving up 3 runs (in the disastrous 8th) on 1 hit, 6 walks,
8 strike outs and 2 hit batters. None of the runs were earned, which shows how
generous we were.
