Swampology was designed from an idea about place based research.  Captain Shreve High School is across the street from the Old River.  Students at Captain Shreve will study the flora and fauna of Old River and the science of studying the water, land, and location of the Old River.

The Shreveport Times published this opinion about Swampology!  This article ran on Friday, July 8, 2005 after the announcement of the grant from the BESE board.
