Reading Pays Off in the Swamp.  Congratulations to the Top Point Earners in Accelerated Reader for the 1st Nine Weeks! 

The top 25 scores earned from 47.9 points to 147.2 points the first nine weeks of the school year.  They were put in a drawing and five lucky readers won $10.00 from the library for their great efforts! 

Start Reading for the 2nd nine weeks.  Twenty-five new Gators could be in the list and participate in the drawing!

Congratulations to the 8g Competitive Grant Writing Committee!

Once again, Captain Shreve has won the 8g Competitive Grant for $100,000.

Maureen Barclay is the author, with assistance from Melissa Elrod, Annette Williford, and Joanette Underhill, grant manager.

The Grant is Swamp 101 and is the 4th $100,000 8g grant Shreve has won in 5 years.

Congratulations to Ms. Elrod for receiving a Dollar General Youth Literacy Grant for $3000.00!

Captain Shreve FCA Faculty Spnsor Annette White was selected as the 2009 Northwest Louisiana High School Huddle Sponsor of the Year. That covers Red River, DeSoto, Caddo, Bossier, and Webster parishes. Annette is a great asset to the FCA family and she
has faithfully served at Captain Shreve for a long time and has done a tremendous job!

On Thursday evening, March 4 at 7pm, the Gator High Line will present "Tonight's Gonna Be A Good Night". Tickets are $5.00. Enjoy dances by the award winning Gator High Line, a skit by the Drama Club, and a performance by the Captain Shreve choir. So, come to the annual Dance Line spring show on Thursday, March 4 at 7pm .

Showboat tryouts will be held March 9 in the auditorium. Tryouts will begin at 5 pm. See Mr. Simms  for times and information.

Reward for hard work! If you score advanced on all 4 parts of the GEE - English, Math, Science and Social Studies, you will be placed in a drawing for a netbook sponsored by the Captain Shreve High Library. The netbook drawing will take place when testing results are released in the spring.

Sign up for the Spanish Costa Rica trip by March 31st to save $150.00. It is for Spring Break 2011. See Mrs. Maranto in MH-9 for a flyer and more information.

If you are going to be a junior or senior next year and are interested in joining KGTR, come by Mrs. Barclays room (A-108) to pick up an application. The applications are due no later than March 31st.

Anyone scheduling debate during the 2010-2011 school year will need to come by Room 204 and pick up an information sheet. This sheet must be completed and returned to Mr. Ivy or Mrs. DeBusk on or before Friday, March 12. You will not be placed in debate next year without this completed sheet.

Attention BSA Spring Trip participants: Final payment for Atlanta, Georgia Educational Tour is now due. Stop by Room 207 with cash or money order. No checks!

The Audubon Nature Institute and the New Orleans Museum of Art (NOMA) in partnership with the Patrick F. Taylor Foundation are rewarding young people with free annual memberships to these wonderful institutes. Please see Ms. Day if you are interested in applying for this opportunity.

Congratulations to Sean Henagan for placing 2nd in singles in the Northwest Louisiana High School Pre-Season Tennis tournament. Sean also placed 1st in the boy’s doubles division. Great job Sean!!

The Captain Shreve Lacrosse team will play Magnet High at Lee Hedges on Wednesday, March 10th, 2010. The JV game is at 5:00pm and the Varsity game is at 7:00pm.

Z-Club meeting Thursday morning at 7:40 in the auditorium. Please be on time.

Sadie Hawkins dance is March 26th from 9:00-11:30 in the gym. The cost is $10.00 per couple or $5.00 per single. Ids are required to enter. You must be cleared on debt list to attend. School dress code applies. Ladies no shorts or skirts more than 4 inches above the knee. If you are bringing a date from another school to the Sadie Hawkins dance, you must sign up your in B-105 by March 22 at 3:45. No middle school students can attend and no on e over 19 can attend. You may sign up only 1 guest.

If music is your dream, then consider Xavier University’s Department of Music Audtions for the 2010-11 year will be held on Tuesday, April 13, 2010 at 5:30 pm.
