Captain Shreve’s Jalia Redd is keeping her fingers crossed about what will happen with the coronavirus this fall and winter.
After becoming the second local basketball standout to sign with Southern-Shreveport Lady Jags coach Matthew Hines this week, Redd hopes to get the opportunity to strut her stuff in NJCAA action, which won’t begin until Jan. 22. But at least she decided to stay local and hoop.
Her signing will have her suiting up with Green Oaks standout Charneshia Collins, who signed with the Lady Jags Monday.
“Jalia was on Captain Shreve’s state championship team, so she will bring championship attitude to our team,” Hines said. “She is a quick point guard who makes good decisions on the hardwood.”
Captain Shreve coach Keith Greene said Redd has been a pivotal part of the Lady Gators as the perennial District 1-5A champs and the 2019 LHSAA Class 5A state champions.
