The SWAMP is the place to be!

The Captain Shreve Library is an alive and exciting place to be these days. You would be surprised at all the wonderful things that are going on. I will use this web page to keep you informed of all of these activities.

Accelerated Reader  was introduced four years ago at Captain Shreve. This year all 9th and 10th grade students are required to participate in Accelerated Reader. Many upperclassmen are also participating in this program. Accelerated Reader (AR) is a reading comprehension program and motivational tool. Students check out a book that is on the AR list. After the student reads the book, he/she takes a test on the computer in the library. The student receives an instant score on the test. I am happy to report that the motivational part is working. There has been a great increase in book check-outs  in the library and many students have been sighted reading!

Reminder! The end of the 9 weeks is approaching. Be sure to complete your reading and test as soon as possible.

New Books and New AR Test have arrived. You need to be sure and stop by the library to "check-out" our new titles and test. Some of the new titles include: poetry, fiction, mystery, best sellers, and nonfiction. Many of the new titles were request from students. If there are any books you would like the library to purchase, bring the title and author to Mrs. Williford or e-mail the information to awilliford@caddo.k12.la.us
